Living in St. Louis, Missouri, where he was born and raised, Lucky Shy may not have ventured far from his beginnings in life – but his dreams and aspirations of being an entertainer are carrying him on a continuously expanding journey.
Growing up in a semi rural area outside the city, the son of a cabinetmaker and an accountant, Lucky got his first introduction to the art of singing and performing from his best friend’s father.
“He played guitar and sang funny songs to entertain the kids in the neighborhood,” says Lucky, recalling those memories. “He taught me to play Johnny Cash and Hank Williams tunes, and I was hooked! I started singing for family and friends at family gatherings, company picnics, bars, weddings, parties – anywhere I could
sharpen those skills. I knew entertaining was what I wanted to do.”
While pursuing his musical dreams on the side, Lucky has also honed other skills and interests he’s developed in life.
He describes himself as fun, but serious when its time to get down to business, persevering, determined, hard-working and compassionate. These same traits that drive him musically and are bound to assure success as an artist, also drive him in another aspect of his life he’s very passionate about – firefighting.
Lucky has risen up the ranks as a St. Louis firefighter and is now Captain of his rescue squad. He has excelled in becoming a decorated fireman, earning distinguished service accolades, life saving awards and Special Rescue training and service. He also has been involved in fundraisers for various charitable organizations including “The Backstoppers,” an organization that assists the families of fallen Police Officers and Firefighters.
“I’m very passionate about whatever I’m doing – whether it be fighting a fire, or keeping the audience focused on my show center stage,” Lucky says. “When performing on stage, I love a lot of interaction and keeping the audience involved. I want them to be touched; like I’m singing to each one of them personally … and so far, my audiences are responding wonderfully.”
Being influenced by a wide variety of musical styles from country to bluegrass to rock & roll, Lucky’s rich baritone voice captures the audience with songs that favor a traditional style, but that relate to contemporary issues that people easily
connect.
Lucky is experiencing real life first hand and is finding out that true success comes from hard work,
determination and genuine love of what you’re doing. His perseverance, time and numerous trips to Music City are quickly enhancing this musical journey he is so passionate about.
Lucky has recently teamed up with legendary performer and producer Joe Stampley to create a collection of songs that will touch the hearts and souls of country music fans worldwide. His CD is receiving airplay on several syndicated radio programs nationwide and has been getting rave reviews.
“These songs, like life, are a reflection of a ‘been there, done that’ memory that just about everyone can relate to – a part of their path on this journey called life.”
“I’ve learned to take one day at a time. I’m on an adventure and looking forward to experiencing what’s around the next corner!”
